It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Veronica “Vern” (nee Wambach) Sudbrink, of Grafton, who passed away at the age of 92 on July 10, 2026.

Vern was born on October 3, 1933, to William Wambach and Julia (nee Cleary) Wambach in West Allis, Wisconsin. She graduated from Mercy High School in Milwaukee in 1951. She also attended Marquette University Dental Hygiene School in Milwaukee and graduated in 1953. She went to work in Grafton for her brother James Wambach, DDS, after graduating from college. She also worked for a couple other dentists in the area. She took some time off to raise her family and then returned to work for Dr. James Mashur. She retired in 1998.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed bowling, meeting her friends at a local fitness club and spending time afterwards having coffee to unwind. During her retirement she enjoyed reconnecting with high school friends, being outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vern is survived by her children Robert, John (friend Patti), Timothy (Rhonda), Barbara (Tim) Sykora, Donna (James) Wendtlandt, Jane Sudbrink and one sibling Sr. Julie Wambach, SSND. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and five siblings William (Lorette) Wambach, James (Shirley) Wambach, Theodore Wambach, Thomas (JoAnn) Wambach and Therese (Thomas) Kaemmerer.

A visitation for Vern will be held on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton from 9:30 AM till 10:45 AM. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM with the burial immediately following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the School Sisters of Notre Dame or St. Joseph Catholic Church are appreciated. A special thank you to Froedtert Hospital, Aurora Hospital – Grafton, and Lawlis Family Hospice for their dedicated care.
