Tom was born on February 21, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and lived in many places, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Montreal. He graduated from Marquette University High School, Class of 1982, and continued his education at Florida State University, where he studied accounting.
Tom was a gifted athlete from a young age and could make a game out of just about anything. He starred on his youth and high school teams and eventually earned a college baseball scholarship. Despite his many talents, Tom remained humble, grounded, and deeply loyal to those he loved.
He spent much of his professional career as an executive at Strong Capital Management. He also devoted significant time and resources to philanthropic efforts and, most importantly, to his family. Tom loved spending time at theme parks with his family, cheering on Wisconsin sports teams, and coaching his children and their friends, and watching his nieces and nephews. He had a special gift for teaching and encouraging others, always building confidence in those around him.
Tom will be deeply missed by his mother, Patricia Zoeller; his children, Michelle (Tyler) Vogds, Jacquelyn Zoeller, Daniella Zoeller, and Eric Zoeller; and his grandchildren, Layla, Harlow, and Colette Vogds. He is further survived by his former wife, Jennifer (French) Zoeller, and her family whose loyalty and care meant so much to him and his family; his brother, Robert (Dawn) Zoeller Jr.; his sisters, Kathy (Steven) Contezac, Karen (Paul) Swanson, and Patricia Zoeller; his stepmother, Susan Hady; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Robert Zoeller Sr., and his stepfather, Charles Brintlinger.
