Suzanne L. Egelhoff

Suzanne L. Geidel Hadler Egelhoff, lovingly known as "Suzy," passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 29, 2026 at her home in Mequon, Wisconsin at the age of 78. She was born on April 30, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Chester Geidel and Dorothy Geidel (Wolochek). 

Suzy was raised in Mequon, a community she loved and proudly called home throughout her life. She attended Sunnyside Elementary School and graduated from Homestead High School in 1966. Suzy raised two sons, living most of those years on her family’s legacy farmland. She also worked outside the home in a variety of positions, with the final chapter of her career proudly working for the Mequon Police Department, where she faithfully served for 25 years before retiring. 

While she cherished many roles throughout her life, none brought Suzy greater joy than being "Grandma." Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she spoke of them often with immense pride. She generously gave her time helping care for them when they were young and remained one of their biggest supporters as they grew. Her love for them was unconditional and unwavering. 

Suzy had a remarkable gift for friendship, and had a wonderful group of lifelong friends. She was a wonderful listener, loyal, easy to talk to, and had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Whether offering words of encouragement or gentle honesty when it was needed, she always spoke from a place of love. 

Her Christian faith was foundational in her life. She loved the Lord and sought to reflect His love through kindness, compassion, and service to others. Suzy was a devoted member of her church, where she volunteered when needed. Suzy thrived in retirement, spending time with family and friends, tending to her beautiful flower-filled deck each summer, decorating her home during the holidays, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. A special thank you to her many friends, who reached out with their love, support and condolences. Suzy will be greatly missed. 

A Christian funeral will be held on Friday, July 17 at 2:00 PM at Christ Alone Lutheran Church (South Campus, 10001 Cedarburg Road, Mequon, WI), with a visitation beginning at 1pm. A private event for close friends and family will be held after the service.
