Roy L. Hauswirth

“A life well lived.” That phrase truly describes Roy Hauswirth, who passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on January 14, 2026. From motorcycles and snowmobiles to classical music and quiet evenings at home, he loved life. He was a builder of relationships, both personal and professional, and a builder with wood as a hobby. His own positive attitude enabled him to encourage friends, family, and clients to find the best way forward. He was “Uncle Roy” to many.

Born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on August 10, 1941, to Irene and Rudolph Hauswirth, he graduated from La Crosse Central High School and the University of Wisconsin, moved to Hayward, Wisconsin, and then on to the Twin Cities of Minnesota. After marrying Cheryl Evon Hamer in 1980, they moved to the Milwaukee area. His career path led him from sales and marketing to investment management. He was the president of several investment firms, most recently Cleveland Hauswirth Investment Management before retirement.

Roy relished travel and enjoyed motorcycle trips, Caribbean and European cruises, as well as memorable trips to Europe, with France and Italy being favorite destinations.

Home life centered in two locations: Grafton, Wisconsin, and Scottsdale, Arizona. The American West appealed to his patriotic spirit and his love of history.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his cherished sister Jozella Bruha. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cheryl Hamer Hauswirth, son Steve (Robin) Hauswirth of Hayward Wisconsin, daughter Cynthia (Matt) Thornton of Eagle, Idaho, nephew Doug (Brenda) of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and niece Treena (Jeff) Schneyer of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and many special friends.

Celebrations of Roy’s unique and vibrant life will be held at future dates in Scottsdale and Grafton. Donations in Roy’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice or to Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.
