Paul A. Mittag

Paul A. Mittag, 71 years old, a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Grafton, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 20, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Paul’s life was marked by his steadfast commitment to his loved ones and his diverse talents that reflect his hand-on nature.

Paul graduated from Grafton High School in 1973, laying the foundation for a career rooted in hard work and reliability. He began his professional life at International Paper, formerly known as Pioneer Container, where he contributed his skills both as a factory worker and as a truck driver. His career later took him to Vollrath, where he continued as a valued driver, showcasing a strong work ethic and dedication throughout his tenure.

Paul was a man with a colorful sense of humor and an inventive mind. He delighted in building his own creations and making ‘Dad jokes’. His passions extended beyond work, embracing the outdoors wholeheartedly—especially the woods up north. He also enjoyed golfing, the Green Bay Packers, and shared cherished outdoor activities with his wife, including horseback riding, dog sledding, and raising animals.

Paul’s greatest pride came from his role as a father and husband. He was devoted to his wife, “the love of his life”, Patti (née Schuster), with whom he shared 49 years of marriage, building a loving and supportive partnership. Together, they raised four sons: Jason (Michelle), Joshua (Kimberly), Jeremy (Amanda), and Jacob (Falynn). Paul's deep care for his family extended to his grandchildren—Phoenix, Sawyer, Savannah, Winifred, Olive, Macy, and Jack—who brought him immense joy throughout his life.

He is further survived by his siblings Deb Mittag, Joan Fischer, and Carol Mittag; his sister-in-law Sheri Barth; and his brother-in-law Jim (Bonnie) Schuster, along with many other family members and friends who cherished his friendship and presence. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gloria (née Shipley); his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Milton and Dorothy Schuster; his brothers John and Carl; and brothers-in-law Lyman Fischer and Tim Barth.

Paul A. Mittag's legacy is one of resilience, creativity, and love. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family. His memory will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing him.
