Patrick E. Curran
Of Cedarburg, WI, peacefully passed away on June 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 95. He was born on January 17, 1930, in New Diggings, WI to his late parents, Elmer and Mary Curran (nee O’Neill). He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, the late Elsie (nee Russell). Together their marriage of over 50 years was blessed with five children, Ruben, Carey, James, Judith, and Gail.
Patrick attended St. Matthews grade school and graduated in 1948 from Shullsburg High School. He then attended Platteville State College and later, earned his master’s degree from UW Eau Claire University. After graduating from Platteville, he obtained his first teaching job in Dakota, IL where he taught English and History. In 1962, he began teaching English at Homestead High School in Mequon after moving to Grafton. In addition to his career, he found joy in coaching Football, Basketball, and Baseball. In 1970, he began coaching the girls’ Softball and Basketball teams. After retirement, he continued to follow Homestead Sports Teams, especially Football, as well as UW Football and Basketball, the Packers, and the Brewers. Through his hard work and commitment, he was inducted in the Homestead Sports Hall of Fame.
Patrick is survived by his five children, Ruben, Carey (Carol), James (Wendy), Judith Jones, and Gail (Ken) Bennett, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by his friend, Susan Burns, along with many additional friends and family.
Patrick is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie along with his parents and six siblings, Bill (Alberta), Austin (Clarice), Florence Sancho, Kathleen (Mert Bennett), Paul (Viola), and Helen (John Engels).
There will be a memorial service held for Patrick at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:30 AM. A visitation will take place from 10:00 AM till 11:15 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials of your choice are appreciated.
