Marlene R. Jackson
August 26, 1932 – November 13, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Marlene Rosalie Jackson, age 93 of Cedarburg on November 13, 2025. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She fought a courageous, long hard battle against Alzheimer’s.
Marlene was born August 26th1932 in Port Washington daughter of the late Theodore and Loretta (Woltering) Thelen. On May 9th,1953 she married Donald J. Jackson in Cedarburg where they remained living for all their lives.
Marlene was kept quite busy raising her family of 9 children. Keeping a loving home and all our busy schedules in line. She loved playing games and cards with friends, family and grandchildren. She spent many hours crocheting Afghans for everyone. As her children grew, she did work at Doerr Electric on 2nd shift. She loved having family over for big meals to celebrate holidays, birthdays or just because. One of our favorite desserts was her poppyseed torte and she made the best German Potato Salad. She found time to do some babysitting for other children and as well as grandchildren from time to time. Both Donny and Marlene enjoyed watching as many grandchildren events as possible ranging from plays, band concerts and sporting events. She had a laugh that was so genuine that is stilled remembered by many.
Her husband Donny preceded her in death on July 22, 2008, at the age of 75.
She is survived by her children Deborah Tarantino of Thiensville, Susan Jackson of Texas, Lori (Richard) Schommer of Franklin, Jeff Jackson of Port Washington, Barbara (Greg) Parchim of Grafton, Jane (Tom)Barelmann of Cedarburg, Tim Jackson of Cedarburg, Peter (Tracey) Jackson of Grafton, Jennifer (Ray) Greenlee of Elkhorn. Her cherished (12) grandchildren (3 girls & 9 boys) and (13) great grandchildren (10 girls & 3 boys). One sister Mary (Willy) Weyker and brother-in-law Wayne Kirst, Waylon Jackson, sister-in-law Sharon Thelen. Gail Thelen. She is fondly remembered and loved by many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Loretta Thelen, her husband Donald Jackson, infant son David Paul and grandson Patrick Donald Jackson. Her siblings Donald & (Shirley)Thelen, Ronald Thelen, Lowell & Nancy (Thelen) Jenz, Gerald & Diane (Thelen) Lecher, Karen (Thelen)Kirst, Michael Thelen. The Jackson family would like to thank the staff of Comfort Keepers, Home Instead, Phyllis and Compassus Hospice Care for their warmhearted care.
As a family we are proud of the fact that we were able to keep our promise to mom and dad, to care for them at home. We all shared in mom’s care each of us doing what they could, when they could. We would like to acknowledge Debbies increased stops at moms over the last few years. We would also like to acknowledge the many years Barbara spent her days caring for mom and the many years Tim gave 24-hour care. The Compassus staff always complemented us on the level of care that Marlene received leaving us proud of all the hard work and dedication by all.
