Marilyn M. Anzia, age 82, of Cedarburg, WI, died on Monday, March 16, 2026, from a chronic pulmonary illness.
She was born on July 14, 1943, to Joseph Latzl and Anita Latzl (Gerschke) in Milwaukee, WI. She attended Cedarburg High School, Class of 1961. She met her husband, Richard (Dick) Anzia, and they married in 1965. They were married for 31 years, before his untimely passing in 1996.
As a teenager, Marilyn played the accordion in a band with her sisters. She was also a part of the Cedarburg High School marching band. In her early working years, she was employed by Pabst Brewery in the IBM department. Dick and Marilyn raised their three children in Cedarburg and were active in the community. Marilyn owned three retail consignment stores called The Clothes Express in Cedarburg, West Bend, and Thiensville. After closing her shops, she enjoyed working at Armbruster Jewelers, Marline’s, and other home decor shops in Cedarburg.
Marilyn had an excellent eye for fashion and home decor. She collected antiques, many reminiscent of Ozaukee County’s history, where she spent most of her life. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, entertaining and hosting dinners for lifelong friends, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. She loved all animals, gardening, and birds visiting her backyard. At 80 years old she moved to Charlotte, NC for two years, moving back to Ozaukee County in the summer of 2024. She continued to live on her own until the fall of 2025, when she moved briefly to Hamilton House in Cedarburg.
She is survived by her three children, Amy Anzia-Dodson (John Dodson), David Anzia (Beth Anzia), and Nicole Anzia (Michael Davies); six grandchildren, Benjamin Dodson, Jacob, Josephine and Abigail Anzia, and Katherine and Lila Davies; her sister, Karen Pipkorn; and other cherished relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Anzia, her sister, Barbara Bartlein, and her parents.
We would like to thank her caregivers, Kelly Jo Retzke and Jennifer Grebes for their endless patience, compassion, and love for our mom over the last several years, in addition to Aurora Medical Center Grafton and the Lawlis Family Hospice, at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s-Ozaukee for the care and support that Marilyn and her family received.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at LUMEN CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2750 W Mequon Rd. Mequon, WI. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00 pm at the church, with a memorial service at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception. A private burial will take place at a future date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake Church (Belgium, WI).
Contributions in Marilyn’s name can be made to the Ozaukee County Humane Society at WIhumane.org or by texting WHS to 91999. Donations would also be appreciated to The American Lung Association, benefiting research and clinical trials for patients with COPD.
