Leroy "Lee" F. Jost

LeRoy “Lee” F. Jost,

Lee Jost of Cedarburg, WI was called to Heaven on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the age of 95. He was born at the old St. Michael’s Hospital in Milwaukee on June 21st, 1928 to proud German immigrants, Emilia and Gustav Jost. Lee was a man of strong Christian faith, love of Country and had great pride in his German heritage. He married his loving wife Mary Scalissi on July 12, 1986 at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

The Memoirs Lee wrote and finalized recently reflect on many childhood memories of growing up in Milwaukee, including circus parades coming to town on North Avenue, horse and wagon junk collectors, his childhood newspaper route and summers consisting of family picnicking and camping in local parks. One highlight recalls a 50 mile bike ride with his buddies to Mauthe Lake in the Kettle Moraine for a week of camping.

Following his graduation from Messmer High School in 1946, Lee enlisted in the United States Army. In November 1946 he embarked on the USAT Marine Swallow with the 7th Infantry Division for South Korea. During his two year service he was promoted to “buck Sargent” and eventually transferred to Armed Forces Radio in Seoul where he served as an Announcer until March 1948.

Upon his return from Service Lee entered Marquette University on the GI Bill where he received his undergrad and graduate degrees. While at Marquette he developed a love for acting and starred in many performances including a European production of Longfellow’s Song of Hiawatha. The tour included a private performance for the Pope with individual conversations following.

Lee’s professional career began as a Speech Instructor at Marquette University. He eventually transitioned to the employee benefit field in which he served as a Consultant and Administrative Manager to many collective bargaining Pension and Health and Welfare Trust Funds. For close to 40 years Lee guided hundreds of Labor and Management Trustees in their Fiduciary Responsibilities of those Jointly Managed Benefit Plans. His first and primary role included the position of Administrative Manager of the Building Trades United Pension Trust Fund. With his extensive experience and acquired respect in the industry, Lee started two companies in 1981 specializing in Administration and Consulting.

At the age of 69 Lee sold his companies and sought retirement part time in Fountain Hills, AZ where he and Mary spend their winter months. At home in Cedarburg, WI he enjoyed building his museum caliber model railroad and in recent years he worked tirelessly on his memoirs.

Lee is survived by his beloved wife Mary; four children, David (Anna) Jost, Jody (Jon)

Currie, Scott (Karla) Storlid, Jennifer (Richard) Yandow and along with nine grandchildren, Brandon, Jake, Olivia, Alex, Sam, John, Katie, Keller and Archer.
