Leona E. Lund

Leona Esther (nee Boehlke) Hilgendorf-Lund was called home to heaven on October 16, 2025.

Leona was born on November 21, 1933 to John & Erna (nee Bartell) Boehlke. She was fifth of nine siblings within the Boehlke family. Leona was baptized, confirmed and united into marriage with her first husband, Donald Martin Hilgendorf on August 20, 1955 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Freistadt in Mequon. She was blessed with a second husband, Samuel B. J. Lund, when they were united in marriage at Trinity – Freistadt on January 3, 1987 by her brother, Rev. Alvin Boehlke.

Leona is survived by her children: Gayle (Michael) Sullivan, Gary (Ronda) Hilgendorf, and Stuart (Diah) Hilgendorf. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Abbiehl and sister-in-laws Diane Boehlke and Arlene Boehlke. Dear step-mother of Robert (Diane) Lund. Proud Grandma of Bridgette Sullivan, Brittany (Sam) Alvey, Aaron (Emily) Hilgendorf, Jim (Jillian) Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, Erika Lund, Lauren (Michael) Turtenwald, LaToya White and David Johnson Jr. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, John and Erna; her husbands, Donald & Sam; her siblings, Raymond, Lillian, John, Margaret, Alvin, Frederick and Neal; several relatives and too many friends.

A Funeral Service will take place on October 21, 2025 – 5:00 PM at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 10729 W. Freistadt Rd, Mequon, WI 53097. Burial immediately following the service. Visitation will be at the church on October 21, 2025,  from 3:30 PM - 5:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Building Fund, Lutheran Hour Ministries or AbleLight.org (formerly Bethesda Lutheran Communities) are appreciated.
