Kathleen M. “Kathy” Galioto (nee Corbett), age 88, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Michael Corbett and Marie Louise Corbett, (nee Hessel), and her dear sister, Rosemary (Charles) Winterhalter.
Born on January 23, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kathy was a proud lifelong resident of the city she loved. She graduated from Messmer High School and went on to dedicate more than three decades of service to the City of Milwaukee. She retired in 2000 as clerk of the License Division of the Milwaukee City Clerk’s Office after an impressive 33 year career.
A devout Catholic throughout her life, Kathy was a long-standing member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church. Her faith was a guiding light and source of strength that shaped her values and deepened her compassion for others.
Kathy’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her children: Frank, Dave (Meg), John and Amy DiGiovanni (Andrew); their father, Joseph S. Galioto; her beloved grandchildren; Alicia (Amber), Peter (Ashley), Jeffrey (Taryn), Erin, Amanda and Catarina Galioto, as well as Giada, Alessandro, Elisa, and Valentina Fantoni; and her sweet great-grandchildren; Aurora and Matteo Fantoni. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will miss her infectious laugh, unwavering loyalty, and heartfelt interest in their lives.
To those who knew her best, Kathy was more than a mom or grandmother – she was the heart of every gathering. Known affectionately as “Gram”, (or Grandma Elmo”), her home was the hub for holidays and celebrations. Her love of cooking and baking was legendary – made from scratch with love – and her talent and passion has been passed on to many of her family members. Christmas cookies and her famous Strawberry Schaum Torte were among the many delights that brought joy to family and friends alike.
Kathy has a zest for life that extended far beyond her kitchen. She was an avid card player who especially enjoyed Bridge and Cribbage, often playing with friends who became like family over the years. Her love for travel took her to many places around the country and even across the globe to visit loved ones in places like Italy and Ireland – journeys filled with laughter, stories, and unforgettable memories.
A passionate reader with particular fondness for tales of the macabre, Kathy also had a very soft spot for feline companions. When meeting with a fellow cat loving friend or family member, she would always ask about the “kitties”. Though she typically kept one cat at a time, she would have happily taken on another one, if the opportunity arose.
With her striking red hair and spirited Irish wit, Kathy brought warmth and humor wherever she went. She was a beloved mother, grand and (great) mother, auntie, cousin and friend whose presence enriched countless lives.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
