Karen G Meinert (née Behrens), beloved matriarch, ascended into the divine care of our Lord, on December 11, 2025 at the age of 87. We love her for her strong faith, sharp wit, compassion, sense of humor, strong convictions and dedication to family. Karen was born to her earthly existence February 11, 1938, to parents Lester A and Gertrude M (née Nierode) Behrens. She was raised on the ancestral Cedarburg farm where she developed a commitment to her faith and an appreciation of family heritage. She married James L Meinert in 1957 and they raised a family in the town of Cedarburg. Family summers were enjoyed at their cabin near Klondike, WI on Lake Ucil. In addition to her guiding faith, she instilled in her offspring a sense of boldness, creativity, self-reliance and personal independence. For this, her presence remains evident and everlasting. Karen was employed as an administrator for Sears, but mostly, was a busy homemaker. Motivated by her caring nature, she was a member of the Cedarburg Woman’s Club, First Immanuel Ladies Aid and a sheepshead group at Village Point Commons. She was gifted at crafting and enjoyed involving family and friends. Karen was an accomplished world traveler and enjoyed the adventure.
Karen is survived by children: Christine (Robert) Witte, Terrance (Karen), Theresa (Jeff) Hopf, Howard (Cathy). Grandchildren: Leslie, Susan, Scott (Taylor), Joshua (Kayla), Alex (Liza), Drace (Brittany), Meghan (Casey), and Sarah (Dylan). Great Grandchildren: Boone, River, Dayton, Lily, Joardin, Remy, Logan, Jaxon, Jemma, Lyra, Charlotte and Emma. Karen is also survived by her sister Susan Langworthy, James L Meinert, Sister-In-Laws: Leila Behrens, Judy O’Connel and Linda (Glen) Prochnow, as well as many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, all of whom she cherished deeply along with a circle of devoted friends.
Karen was proceeded in death by sons Gerald, John and James E, her parents, brother Edward, Sister-in-Law Sandy and Brother-In-Law Gus Gotthart, and Nephew Lee Prochnow.
Karen exemplified selfless generosity in many aspects of her life. Her love, forgiveness and positive influence endure in the lives of those she touched.
Into the winds of the Holy Spirit, Karen. Fly on.
