Jon “Scotty” Wegner, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026 at the age of 76. Scotty was born on June 7, 1949 in Grafton, Wisconsin, and graduated from Grafton High School (class of 1967), where he met Lynn, the woman he would marry and love deeply for the rest of his life.
For more than 50 years, Scotty worked as a tool and die maker at Grob, Inc., where he took pride in his craft and believed deeply in doing good, honest work. His career was defined not by flash, but by reliability, precision, and quiet excellence. Scotty was a man of unequivocal consistency and character. Often donned in blue jeans, cowboy boots, and a flannel shirt, he found comfort in garages, engines, and open roads, drawn to the adrenaline of racing cars, the mastery of motion, and things that were built to last.
In retirement, Scotty embraced solitude not as loneliness, but as freedom. He fulfilled a longtime dream of buying a Corvette (“Lucille”) and spent countless hours road tripping and sightseeing on his own, following back roads, highways, and coastlines. He loved the independence that came with an open road. The ability to stop when something caught his eye, to linger, to think, to notice.
To those who knew him best, Scotty’s greatest gift was the way he loved. He had a sharp wit and dry humor, often delivered with perfect timing, and an easy way of making ordinary moments feel meaningful. Above all, he cherished time with his children and grandchildren, who will forever coddle his rare ability to express pride, affection, and wonder openly and without hesitation. Scotty will be proudly remembered as a man who paid attention, spoke with intention, and loved without reservation.
Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, Arlyne Ann (VanLagen) Wegner and Howard Wegner, and his brother Brian Wegner. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn (Samp) Wegner; his daughters, Lara (Wegner) Lipinski and Leah (Wegner) Fabis, whom he admired deeply and spoke of with unmistakable pride; and his grandchildren, Jake, Nicholas, Hailey, Gabe, Ruby, and Chase, each of whom held a singular and irreplaceable place in his heart.
In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held and a private memorial will be held by his immediate family.
