Janet B. Traxel, née Rintelman, of Grafton, was born on November 11, 1942, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, and peacefully passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age 83. A vibrant and positive spirit, Janet lived a life defined by kindness, independence, and a cheerful outlook that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
From her early days in Grafton, Janet displayed a warm and pleasant personality that brightened every room. Her dedication to family and community was unwavering. She worked diligently as a custodian at Lakeshore Leather Company, demonstrating her strong work ethic and commitment. In addition to her professional life, Janet opened her home for many years as a babysitter, caring for numerous children with gentle affection while raising her own daughters, fostering a nurturing environment full of love and joyful activity.
Janet’s delightful nature was evident in the countless cherished memories she created with her loved ones. She was known for playing imaginative games with the children she cared for and her own kids, always encouraging their involvement in a variety of activities. Her love for the outdoors was shared with her late husband, Roger, especially through fishing excursions that brought them close to nature and to each other.
Her creative spirit flourished in her hobbies, notably latch hooking, where she crafted beautiful rugs that garnered recognition at the county fair. Janet’s zest for life extended well beyond her home; she was an active participant in the Grafton Senior Center/Grafton Senior Center Golden Tones Choir, enthusiastically attending bus tours, enjoying visits to casinos, engaging in bingo, playing dominoes with friends. She had an unwavering appreciation for parades, reveling in community celebrations and the joy they brought.
Janet’s family and friends admired her for being cheerful, polite, kind, and very positive—a woman who faced life with strength and grace. She leaves behind a loving legacy carried forward by her daughters Tammy (Craig) Setzke and Jennifer Traxel, who continue to honor her memory. Janet was also a beloved sister to Betty Bublitz and is fondly remembered by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends who were a significant part of her vibrant life.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Roger; her parents William and Adeline (nee Wilhelme) Rintelman; Siblings: Donald Rintelman, William Rintelman, Delores Papke; brother-in-law John Bublitz and Neil Traxel.
