James W. Gellert, age 89, of Grafton, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away on July 13, 2026. He was born on August 5, 1936, to Robert and Esther (nee Schroeder) Gellert. After 63 wonderful years of marriage, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie (nee Turner).
Jim graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee and embarked on a diverse career in construction before proudly serving as a Tank Retrieval Commander in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he dedicated most of his career to the city of Bayside as a heavy machinery operator, where he was known for his exceptional skill and dedication. Throughout their years together, Jim and Marjorie were inseparable. They shared a love for the outdoors, often spending their days fishing, golfing, and hunting on their cherished property in Central Wisconsin. Their bond was truly special, defined by laughter, companionship, and a deep love for each other.
Jim is survived by many nephews, nieces, friends who he adored, and additional family members. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie Gellert, his parents, siblings, Marna and Robert, along with many friends.
A funeral service will be announced at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor Jim’s life. He will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials of your choice be made in Jim's honor. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
