Howard William Raasch was born November 12, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Marie (Klein) Raasch. He was baptized into the Christian faith December 23, 1924. He confirmed his faith on March 17, 1940, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Howard graduated from Riverside East High School in Milwaukee in 1942. He served the United States Navy as Sonar Man Second Class during World War II, in the South Pacific Theater. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Templeton at Cherry Congregational Church on February 18, 1950. He worked in management at Briggs & Stratton for 38 years. As a member of St. Peter—Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Milwaukee, he served as a member of the Board of Education, the House Committee and as a Boy Scout leader. Howard was a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, Wisconsin, since 1994. Howard was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, through faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 101 years.
Howard is preceded in death by Betty, his beloved wife of 74 years; his parents; his brother, Ronald Raasch; and his son-in-law, Gary Krohn.
Howard is survived by his children: Lynn Krohn, Rev. Randolph (Diana) Raasch, Jeffrey (Wende) Raasch, Timothy (Janet) Raasch. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Daniel Krohn, Andrew (Allison) Krohn, Elizabeth (Daniel) Cattau, Sarah (Patrick) Danielson, Victoria (Mitch) Mostardi, Robert (Mary) Raasch, Mary Elizabeth Raasch, Genevieve Raasch, Lucy Raasch, Nora Raasch; and his great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Riley Krohn, Brady Kasper; Madelyn, Emily and Elijah Cattau; Ann Danielson; Josephine and Theodore Mostardi. Howard is further survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Storkman, as well as nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at First Immanuel Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 22, 2026 – 4:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 2:00 – 3:45 PM.
Interment will be at Miners’ Memorial Cemetery in Cherry, Illinois. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.muellerfuneralhome.com
Memorials to can be made out to “First Immanuel Lutheran Church” and will support the “Guardian Angels Fund” of the First Immanuel School and will support “The Peter Kelm Memorial Lutheran School” in Ghana, Africa.
