Elaine A. Landers, a cherished matriarch, follower of Christ, loving grandmother, and steadfast friend, was called home to be with the Lord, peacefully on August 12, 2025, at Ellen’s Home of Port Washington, where she was lovingly surrounded by her family. Born on December 16, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Elaine lived a life that was a true testament to the power of family and community.
Elaine graduated from Rufus King High School, setting the stage for a life filled with learning and adventure. On July 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to Donald Landers in Redondo Beach, CA. Her passion for crocheting, baking, and traveling brought joy not only to her but also to every heart she touched. Elaine's baked goods were a staple at family gatherings, and her warm, crocheted creations often served as cozy gifts that wrapped those lucky enough to receive them in her love.
Family was the cornerstone of Elaine’s life. She savored every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, reveling in their laughter and achievements. Her love for them was unconditional and boundless, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever.
She is survived by a wonderful family that includes her beloved children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild: children, Diane Bargenquast, Gary Landers, and David Landers; grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Bargenquast, Bridget (Robert) Stiffler, Charles (Danielle) Summers, Lindsay (Edward) Lanser, and Logan Landers; great-grandchildren, Ava Bargenquast, Brayden Bargenquast, Alexandra Banks, Javon Holz, Isaiah Holz, McKenzie Schmidt, and Jeremiah Summers; great-great-grandchild, Madeleine Banks; sister-in-law, Nila Jane (Flay) Smith; former daughter-in-law, Lauren Landers; along with other relatives and friends. Each of them carries a piece of Elaine's spirit in their hearts.
Elaine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Landers, who undoubtedly awaited her embrace in the loving arms of Heaven. She also mourned the loss of her son, Greg Landers, and her son-in-law, Bill Bargenquast, whose absence left deep voids in her life. Additionally, she remembered her sister-in-law, Fern (Chuck) Reinke, in her heart.
Elaine’s desire to be surrounded by love was reflected in her final wishes. There will be a visitation held at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church – Freistadt, 10729 W. Freistadt Rd., Mequon, WI, on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM, followed by a memorial service to honor her remarkable life starting at 5:00 PM and concluding at 5:45 PM. This gathering will be an opportunity for all who loved Elaine to share in fond recollections and to celebrate a life well-lived.
As we bid farewell to Elaine A. Landers, let us remember her indomitable spirit, her devotion to family, her love for Christ Jesus, and the warmth she spread to all who knew her. She leaves behind an everlasting legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will continue to illuminate the lives of those she touched.
We would like to give a special thank you to Yvette, Sonja, Tracy, Bonnie, Lauren and all the caregivers at Ellen’s Home for their devoted and loving care.
