Dyrellean "Dary" M. Cain

Dyrellean “Dary” May DuBois Cain joined her Savior in eternal life on September 27, 2026, at the age of 99. She spoke often of seeing her beloved husband, Marlo, again, and could hardly wait to be reunited with the love of her life. Those who love her find comfort in believing that the reunion she looked forward to has finally come.

Ninety-nine years is a remarkable life. And yet, when someone has been such a loving presence in your family, it is hard to imagine a time when you would be ready to say goodbye.

Dary was born and baptized in Baraboo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest and Marie DuBois, on May 21, 1927. She graduated from Baraboo High School, earned her beautician’s license, and began working in Ripon. There, a blind date introduced her to Marlo Donald Cain, the man with whom she would share 54 years of marriage. They married on October 7, 1951.

Marlo’s career brought them to Milwaukee, and together they raised their three children in Brown Deer before later moving to Saukville and then Mequon. Dary loved being a mother, and that love grew to embrace four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dary really enjoyed the many trips she took with different family members. Whether she was a passenger in her brother-in-law’s small aircraft, traveling to Hawaii with Holly and Bob, or enjoying Door County and Colorado with Mark and Margy, she always looked forward to a new adventure.

Watching her favorite teams was serious business—she watched the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks as though she were the head coach herself! During the last couple of years, Sundays weren’t complete until her son Mark and granddaughter Elena walked through her door, fried chicken in hand, ready to watch whatever game was on television. If all else failed, Hallmark was a close second. Dary would be ready for them, smartly dressed, with her jewelry on, her nails done, and her wig styled just so. Always appreciating a good meal, and not to be overshadowed by fried chicken, every Saturday Russ would arrive with a pizza or delicious sandwiches from Cafe 1505.

But what her family will remember most is her kindness. Dary was kind to everyone, whatever the circumstances. She did not complain or speak poorly of others. It was simply how she lived, day after day, and how she made people feel in her company.

Her faith meant so much to her throughout her life. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brown Deer and later First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Dary spent her last 14 years at LaSata Crossings in Cedarburg. She valued the visits from her church care teams, especially Pam Brown, and cherished the people at LaSata who cared for her. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the leadership, nurses, aides, and support staff whose care and friendship meant so much to her.

Dary was preceded in death by her husband, Marlo, in 2005; her parents, Ernest and Marie DuBois; her brother, Roger (Mary Helen) DuBois; and her sister, Nadine (Bob) Walch.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Russ Cain and Jette Sanders of Madison, Mark (Margy) Cain of Shorewood, and her daughter, Holly (Bob) Newsome of Billings, Montana; her grandchildren, Jen (Ben) Newsome Quanbeck of Billings, Montana, Bennett (Alycia) Newsome of Orlando, Florida, Victor (Sarae) Cain of Melissa, Texas, and Elena Cain of Shorewood; her great-grandchildren, Caleb and Cora Quanbeck, Eretria and Rune Cain, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Her family will miss her in the everyday moments: when the Brewers take the mound, when they bring home fried chicken, when they FaceTime with each other, and when they have something to tell her and wish they could sit beside her once more. They will remember her smile, her kindness and her laughter, and carry the love she gave them for the rest of their lives.

A memorial service celebrating Dary’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00am at First Immanuel Church in Cedarburg. Family will gather with friends and relatives before and after the service. A light luncheon at First Immanuel Lutheran Church will follow the memorial service.
