He was a man who cherished every moment spent with loved ones, particularly at his grandchildren’s sporting events, where his enthusiasm and support never went unnoticed. Dennis was a dedicated member of his community, serving as an usher at St. John Lutheran Church, a member of the Fredonia Legion, and an active VFW member. He had a passion for gardening, farming, collecting model tractors, and traveling with family, all of which filled his life with joyful memories.

Dennis leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Joyce, and their three daughters: Cathy (Bill) Bares, Michelle (Sean) Peiffer, and Jodi (Kevin) Klas. He was a cherished grandfather to Nathan (Jen), Haily (Ryan), Dylan (Taylor), Bennett, Bryce (Hannah), Karli (Andrew), Jack, Beau, Grant, Grace (Ryan), Greta, Gabby (Cooper), and Grady, with whom he shared countless memories. He was also proud to welcome his great-grandchild, Violet. In addition to his immediate family, Dennis is survived by his brothers Roger (Gayle), Lee, and Donald (Sue).

Dennis joins in eternal rest his grandson, Austin Bares, and his beloved parents, Otto and Ruth (née Mueller) Damerow. He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Emmons Schmit, and mother-in-law, Florence Schmit.
