In Loving Memory of David Michael Essmann August 4, 1954 – July 29, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, David Michael Essmann, who left us on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a kind, selfless man who lived his life with integrity, compassion, and unwavering love for his family.

David was the kind of man who did anything for those he loved. He had a generous heart, a sharp mind, and a quiet strength that uplifted everyone around him. He gave freely of his time and care, and his presence was a gift to all who knew him.

His faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of Morning Star Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and took great joy in running the video board almost every week. He loved his Lord and Savior deeply, and that love was reflected in how he lived his life — with humility, kindness, and purpose. We take comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye, but see you later, and that one day we will see him again.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; sisters, Cheri (Erik) Nelson and Terri Essmann; daughter, Stacy (Trenton) McAnally; son, Eric (Kristin) Essmann; cherished grandchildren, Kayden and Rae; and his father-in-law, Oscar Rathke. He is also lovingly remembered by many cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends whose lives he touched with his warmth and faith.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ulrich and Marilyn Essmann, whose legacy of love and values he carried forward throughout his life. and mother-in-law, Ruth Rathke.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing how deeply he was loved — and how deeply he loved in return. His legacy will live on in the lives he shaped, the faith he shared, and the enduring love he gave so freely.

We will carry him with us, always.

VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at David’s Star Lutheran Church, 2740 Davids Star Dr.

SERVICE: The service will be at the church on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. with private family burial to follow.
