Dale Harold Lietzke

Born to eternal life on July 8, 2026 at the age of 90 at Lawlis Family Hospice. Dale was born on June 11, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Raised from humble beginnings surrounded by German heritage, Dale became quickly inspired by the American dream of freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Following his graduation from North Division High School in 1954, Dale proudly served the United States Army in 1959, a 13-month tour in Korea. While staying (mostly) out of trouble, Dale was assigned to a small outfit on an Air Force base in Seoul. Not long after his return, Dale met his loving wife Patricia, marrying in 1964. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Karin and Amy, settling down together in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.

Dale was an extremely hard-working, kindhearted, and honest man who participated in his community and generated laughter. His loyalty is easily seen through his 37 years at the Wisconsin Telephone Company. During which, he enjoyed installing communicators for the Tenth Pan Am Games in 1987 and for a presidential visit to Milwaukee in 1992. Dale’s dedication also shone through his lifelong membership at Community United Methodist Church. Every year, Dale found a way the family could travel. The entire family has happy memories of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Killarney Lake at the family cottage in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Following his retirement, Dale’s vivaciousness for life didn’t slow. Here, he filled his days with volunteer work, travel, and quality time with his granddaughters. In summer, Dale could be spotted out golfing or lounging at home reading the newspaper.

As Dale entered his later years, his affinity for dance and music was rarely lacking. He often was found tapping his toes to an undisclosed tune, breaking out in a short jig with his granddaughters, or singing a song sparked by a key word in a conversation. To label Dale as endearing would be a mistake as he far surpassed the definition. Dale was responsibly candid and universally kind, marked by his signature sarcastic humor. Like all vivid characters, a yearning for his earthly presence can be found in many of our hearts. His surviving family and friends are at peace knowing he rests with God.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Patricia (Frohna) Lietzke and daughters Karin (Kip) Kinzel, and Amy (Steve) O’Shea. He is further survived by sister-in-law Marilyn Lietzke, nieces Kim (Dan) Linehan, Madeline (Jeff) Jackson, Sue (John) Uglietta, Laura (Ian) Favill, nephew Rob (Heather) Trentadue, granddaughters Anna Kinzel, Emili (Nathaniel) Wilde with a soon-to-be great-grandson, and Maggie (Danny) Valoe with great-granddaughter Lucy Wyatt, along with countless friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Ruth Lietzke, brother Glenn Lietzke, and sister-in-law Judy Trendadue and her husband Bart.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12:00 pm, at Community United Methodist Church, W68N563 Evergreen Blvd., Cedarburg. A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the church, from 10:30 am until the time of service. Private family interment will take place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, in Cedarburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Community United Methodist Church or to One Act of Giving Foundation (to donate, mail a check to P.O. Box 511281 New Berlin, WI 53151).
