Cheryl Kay Voss October 30, 1949 – June 12, 2025
Cheryl Kay Voss passed away peacefully in Libertyville, IL surrounded by family on June 12, 2025.
Born in Port Washington, Wisconsin on October 30, 1949, to the late Harold and Bernice (née Jaeger) Rappold, Cheryl was raised in Grafton, where she spent much of her childhood helping in the family floral center (Rappold’s Florist).
She was preceded in death by her parents; her older sister, Sandra (née Rappold) Jaeger; and her younger brother, James Rappold.
Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years and 8 months—to the day—Siegmar Voss; her brother Wayne (Jen) Rappold; son Charles (Robyn) Voss; daughter Heidi (Brian) Dunford; and her cherished grandchildren: Amara and Adalade Voss, Colton, Kayleigh, Connor, and Kinzie Dunford. She also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Elyjiah Voss; many loving nieces and nephews; her lifelong best friend, Linda "the Tupperware Lady" (Bob) Kruepke, other relatives and friends.
Cheryl had a fulfilling career, spending over 20 years at Mutual Savings Bank before continuing her work at Cornerstone Community Bank in Grafton—located in her childhood homestead, a full-circle moment she treasured. She was so proud to be a Rappold and learned her love for flowers and gardening from working in her family’s flower shop.
An avid and speedy reader, Cheryl's personal library could rival that of a small town. She also had a soft spot for slot machines and was known for being quite lucky, even winning a Caribbean Cruise.
Cheryl was proud to be a member of St. James Lutheran Church where she loved to be a part of the sewing group. She met a lot of great people and helped sew teddy bears and blankets that were then donated to those in need.
Above all, Cheryl’s greatest joy was her family. Her husband, children, and grandchild were truly her whole world. Her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cheryl's beautiful smile will be missed as well as she could light up any room she entered just by smiling.
There will be a memorial service held for Cheryl at St. James Lutheran Church (1380 N Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
