Betty Lou E. Twietmeyer

Betty Lou Twietmeyer, 89, of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, was peacefully called home to heaven on April 16, 2025. Betty was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Lenore and Dayton Scherer on October 6, 1935. She married the love of her life, Warren Twietmeyer, on October 16, 1954, and gave birth to their three sons before moving to Cedarburg in 1974.

Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother to 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They lovingly referred to her as "Gumma". She loved her family.

Betty’s interests were broad. She loved spending time with her husband of 71 years, sipping cocktails on their front porch, visiting Siesta Key, Florida, or watching their family grow. She enjoyed reading, neighborhood walks, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Betty was an avid lover of football, and was often referred to as “Big Lou” on the golf course. She loved cooking, homemaking, and had an insatiable appetite for the sweet things in life – primarily desserts.

Betty embodied femininity and grace, but also carried a deep loyalty to her family and her faith. She is preceded in death by her parents and two older brothers, Dayton and Gene. She is survived by her husband, Warren, her three sons, Philip (Joanne), Scott (Patty) and Richard (Deborah). Betty’s family is especially thankful for her care team at Lasata Care Center and Horizon Home Care & Hospice.

Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials and gifts can be directed to First Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Cedarburg, Wisconsin appreciated.
