Betty E. Kroening

(nee Does) of Cedarburg, passed away peacefully at Lasata Care Center on December 14, 2025 at the age of 98. Betty was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 2, 1927 the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (nee Clapham) Does. She was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at Siloah Lutheran Church. Betty grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Rufus King High School. On June 2, 1951 Betty was united in marriage to Harry D. Kroening. They moved to Cedarburg in 1967 to raise their seven boys. Betty was a Sunday school teacher at Siloah Lutheran Church when she lived in Milwaukee. Shortly after moving to Cedarburg, Betty started working as secretary at First Immanuel Lutheran School, finally retiring after 45 years at the age of 87. She loved the children and was known as grandma K to many of the students. Many knew that she kept candy in her bottom drawer. Betty was also hostess at the Edge of Town on Monday nights for many years. Betty’s favorite hobby was bowling. She enjoyed competing in numerous leagues and tournaments. Betty loved her Red Hat Society activities and traveling. For years, Betty could be seen walking around Cedarburg, sun tanning at the pool or driving her convertible through town. She also loved to sew, paint ceramics, do counted cross stitch projects and play card games with her grandchildren or friends.

Betty is survived by her sons: Terry (Karen), Steven (Mary), David (Lori), Mark, Charlie, and Michael (Donna); Grandchildren: Chad (Bridget) Kroening, Jessica (Adam) Olinski, Andrew (Ermina) Kroening, Dan (Alexis) Kroening, John (Mckenna) Kroening, Joseph (Anchal) Kroening, Anthony Kroening, Peter Kroening, Monica Kroening, Maria Kroening, Kahla (Anders) Hendricks, Shane (Alison) Kroening, Matthew (Ashley) Kroening, Pamela Kroening, Amanda Kroening, Chase Kroening, Jakob (Kaitlyn) Kroening, Patrick (Katie) Kroening, Candice Kroening, and twenty great grandchildren. She will be missed by her long-time friend Judy Snieg and BFF Jill Becker.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Harry; Son Thomas (Taco) Kroening; Daughter-in-law Karen M. Kroening; Sister Florence Boehringer and Brother Maynard Does. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 – 4:00 PM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd. Cedarburg with

Rev. Randolph Raasch Officiating. Interment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 2:00 PM – 3:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Immanuel Lutheran School for the Betty Kroening Scholarship Fund or charity of your choice are appreciated.
