Alvin (Al) Walter Edward Laverenz of Jackson passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026 at the age of 99.

Al was born on May 31, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Louis and Lillie (Maas) Laverenz. Al was baptized on July 11, 1926 at St. Marcus Ev Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Al attended Zion Ev. Lutheran School, Milwaukee for 6 years before moving to Germantown in 1936 where he attended public school for 1 year. In 1937 his family moved to Jackson and attended David’s Star Ev Lutheran Church and School where he was a member to this day.

Al was drafted into the armed forces on February 2, 1945 and served in WWII. He was honorably discharged on October 17, 1946. He was a member of the American Legion Post #288.

On August 23, 1947, Al was united in marriage to Ruth nee Rusch at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church. The marriage was blest with 3 children.

Al served on many boards at David’s Star. He was an Elder and Treasurer for 6 years, he was on the finance committee for 14 years, he was an usher and was also a member of the recording committee delivering taped services to shut-in members.

Before Al was drafted, he worked for the canning factory taking German war prisoners to work in the sweet corn fields. In his years, Al delivered fuel oil for Filter Oil, he co-owned a garage in Jackson until he went to work at Middle West Mfg. He worked there until his retirement. After retirement, Al cut grass for the Town of Jackson for many years.

Those Al leaves behind to cherish his memories are his children, Donna (Chuck) Kison, Gary (Gail) Laverenz and Cindy Ehlke. Grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Schrap, Andy (Corrin) Ehlke, Jessica (Benjamin) Washburn and Ryan (Katie) Laverenz. Great Grandchildren, Brandon (Nadia) and Joshua Schrap, Joseph, Samuel, Elizabeth, Evelyn and Kathryn Ehlke, Caden and Liam Washburn, Kiera, Brodey and Keyana Laverenz. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Ruth, grandson, Kevin Kison, son-in-law, Richard Ehlke and his sister, Delores Oppermann.

Funeral services for Al will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 20, 2026, at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church, Jackson. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 11:00am until 12:45pm. Interment with military honors will be in the David’s Star Cemetery following the service. Memorials to David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church, Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School or a charity of your choice are appreciated.
