Alfred Nunez, 88, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, with his family at his side.
He was born on October 14, 1936, in San Antonio, TX to the late Timiteo and Julia Nunez (nee Lopez). Moved to Wisconsin in 1957. Met the love of his life, Yvonne Butzke and the two were united in marriage on February 27, 1960. Settling in Jackson, they raised their family. Fred worked at Ataco Steel as a welder for 30+ years, also working part time at Kapco for numerous years to make sure his kids received a good education. They built their first home just outside of Jackson where they resided until 2018 and then moved to a condo. Fred enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and yard work. He also enjoyed doing Taxidermy and was a big Dallas Cowboy’s fan. Fred especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Those Fred leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Vonnie, of 65 years; son, David (Mary) Nunez and daughter, Lori (David) Keon; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Michael Kirchner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Julie Kirchner who passed on September 14: 2017; his granddaughter, Michelle Gillespie; and 6 siblings.
VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at David’s Star Lutheran Church, 2740 David's Star Dr., Jackson, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
SERVICE: A Funeral Service for Fred will be at the church on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to David’s Star Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Froedtert Hospital 3 floor Medical and Surgical unit for all their help and care.
