William Judson Doss 'Jud'

William Judson Doss 71, of Grafton and Boulder Junction passed away peacefully from cancer, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 4 in Mequon, WI. He was born October 11, 1940 in Champaign, IL. He grew up in Monticello, IL, and in the Wisconsin Northwoods, the son of Dwight and Arvilla Doss. A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin Law School, Jud served as Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1966 through 1997. He was admitted to the practice of law in the Supreme Court of the United States of America on May 25, 1970. His career encompassed investigating a wide swath of federal crimes including kidnapping, extortion, bank robbery, corruption, and acted as a liason to local law enforcement agencies. Jud was recognized for his distinguished and dedicated service in support of criminal prosecutions through commendations from the United States Department of Justice. Jud’s passion was the pursuit of the elusive Musky in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. He loved spending time on the lake with his family and friends fishing, waterskiing and eating Luella’s blue ribbon fried chicken and strawberry rhubarb cobbler. He was most happy in his patched jeans and plaid shirt fixing the rock wall, planting trees, working on the cabin, and watching out for eagles and the mysterious albino deer. Jud was the beloved husband of Luella (nee McCartney), and father of Brian (Marissa). He was the guardian uncle of Peter and Patti Burbach and their children Pamela, Hugh, Jack. Henry, and Miles, and of Mark and Lisa Borelli and their children Anna Lynn, Marco and Elise. He was the loving brother of Joanne Simpson and Debby Calhoun. Jud was the devoted uncle of Joanne’s children Tori, Jill and Ty, and of Debby’s children Barry, Lindsay and Kara. A sister-in-law, Ann (McCartney) Borelli predeceased him. Jud is survived by his brother-in-law Ed McCartney( Rita). He is further survived by dear relatives Jane, Bobbi, Jimmy, Kimmy, Kristie, and Geoff Reed, other nieces and nephews, and close friends and colleagues. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9 at 9AM, at the Community United Methodist Church in Cedarburg with the Memorial Service held immediately after at 11AM. A reception/lunch for family and friends will follow.
