Virgil B. Wolfgang

Virgil B. Wolfgang, of Cedarburg, formerly of Mequon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lasata Care Center on May 31, 2019, at the age of 94 years. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 3:00 PM, at Christ Alone Church (SOUTH CAMPUS), 10001 N. Cedarburg Rd., Mequon. A visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 1:30 PM until the time of service. The Rev. Donald Scheuerlein will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated. Virgil was born on March 22, 1925, in the town of Lincoln, WI, to the late William and the late Ella (nee Kunert) Wolfgang. He married Edith (nee Kewin) in Augusta, WI, on November 4, 1945. Virgil was employed at Schmidt Ford Mercury in Thiensville for 37 years. He was also a member of the Mequon Fire Department for 42 years and served as captain for 25 of those years. Virgil was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was a life-time member of Ozaukee County Fish & Game. Next to fishing and hunting, he had a passion for a good game of sheepshead. He is survived by his two daughters, Judy Thierfelder of Grafton, and Mary (Alan) Herauf of Jackson; grandchildren: Michelle (Mark) Rhyner, Jeff (Sharon) Thierfelder, Julie (Brian) Passig, Jenell (Jason) Enright, Jodie (Bryan Howland) Thierfelder and Jamie Thierfelder; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Virgil is preceded in death by his wife Edith, son William, son-in-law Jim Thierfelder, daughter-in-law Rosie Wolfgang, his parents, three brothers and one sister.
