Sabina "Sally" Gerfin (Nee Moroder) Of Jackson, formerly of Cedarburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Sabina "Sally" Gerfin at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church in Cedarburg. Sally passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday. Fr. Tom Eichenberger will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Mass to follow at 6:00pm Sabina was born on April 22, 1926 in Milwaukee, to Alphonse and Eva (nee Senoner) Moroder. Sally graduated from Messmer High School in 1944 and worked at the Milwaukee City Hall. In 1948, she married Richard “Dick” Gerfin. She spent most of her life as a dedicated homemaker and mother, raising a family of five children. Sally and Dick moved from Milwaukee to Cedarburg in the early 1960s, and loved living in such a wonderful community. Sally became a member of the Cedarburg Women’s Club and was part of that club’s Scholarship Committee for CHS graduates. Sally was a lifelong avid reader and a long-time member of two local book clubs. Sally also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and watching the Packers and Brewers. Sally and Dick were married for 59 years, until his passing in 2008. Sally is survived by their children Tom (Candi) Gerfin of Grayslake, Ill., Susan (Dan) Gleason of Brookfield, Barbara (Wayne) Novotny of Wind Lake, Joanne (Peter) Leiby of Delafield and Jenny (Charlie) Karpelenia of Portage; their grandchildren Christopher, Katie and Stefanie Gerfin, John (Melissa), Nick (Vanessa), David and Sarah Gleason, Jason (Angela) and Laura Novotny, Jacob, Josh and Victoria Leiby, and Alex, Jack and Ian Karpelenia; their great-grandchildren Eleanor, Miriam, and Miles Novotny, and David Gleason; and her brother Rudolph “Rudy” Moroder, and sister-in-law Barbara Moroder of Milwaukee. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings Othmar (Catherine) Moroder, Armella M. Moroder, Alphonse “Johnny” Moroder, Aurelia Moroder, Anthony (Geraldine) Moroder, Armella A. (Bill) Walsh, Marie “Sr. Immacula” Moroder, and Joseph Moroder. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cedarburg Woman’s Club or the Cedarburg Public Library are appreciated.
