Poggenburg, Sr., Robert R. “Bob” Of Cedarburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on July 2, 2017 at the age of 79 years. Robert was born February 23, 1938 to his parents, Ronald Poggenburg and Flora Fechter. He would later be united in marriage to Georgiann Rix on November 27, 1959 in Cedarburg. They would be blessed with four children. Robert served in the Wisconsin National Guard for 10 years while beginning his career at the Milwaukee Company. Robert retired as a Senior V.P. at B.C. Zeigler & Company in West Bend. “Bob” was proud of starting up and managing the municipal bond department for 31 years. In his earlier years, Robert was quite the athlete, even earning MVP on his high school football team. Robert would always tell his grandchildren, “High school will be the best four years of your life.” He spent many years pitching for the local “Cedars” softball team. Robert was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Robert was especially proud of his Top Gun honors and numerous team trophies. Robert enjoyed supporting his grandchildren, by attending sporting events and giving them worldly advice. Being the history buff that he was, Robert was an avid reader of military history. He also was a huge collector of military items and artifacts. Robert and Georgiann enjoyed many years traveling the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Ireland and other countries. Germany was always “Bob’s” favorite. Robert is survived by his loving wife; Georgiann (nee Rix), his children; Joni Poggenburg, Coni Poggenburg and Mari (Ron) Frank, grandchildren; Jacki (Jeremy) Dahm, Eric Poggenburg, Sidni, Jesse, Peytin and Jami Frank and great-grandchild Leah Dahm. Robert was preceded in death by his “favorite” and only son; Bob Poggenburg Jr., parents; Ronald and Flora (nee Fechter) Poggenburg, and sister; Phyllis Nieman. Robert is further survived by other family and friends. A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 10, 2017 at Mueller Funeral Home – Cedarburg, at 6:00 PM. Family will receive guests from 4:00 PM – 5:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society is appreciated.
