Robert Eugene Ganson

Robert Eugene Ganson entered eternal glory Sunday August 23, 2015 at the age of 83. Robert passed peacefully at home in Grafton, WI with the loving care of his family by his side. He was born March 14, 1932 in Champaign, Ohio to the late William Floyd Ganson and T. Marjorie (nee Clark) who lovingly called him Bobby Gene as a child. Robert graduated from West Liberty High School, Ohio in 1951 and was drafted by the major league Washington Senators baseball team. At the same time he was drafted but elected to patriotically enlist with the US Navy serving from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. In 1953 Robert married Mary Eleanor “Ellie” (nee Rutherford). They had three daughters. He began at Robbins & Myers of Springfield, Ohio as a tool room machinist and worked with them for 26 years progressing to Manufacturing Engineer. In 1977 his family moved to Cedarburg, WI where he worked for Doerr Electric as Director of Manufacturing & Engineering until retiring in 1988. In 1981 Robert laid to rest his wife after her battle with ovarian cancer. Robert and Eleanor Battermann were married on February 18, 1983 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, WI. They enjoyed a long and loving marriage of 33 years. In retirement Bob and Ellie mostly enjoyed golfing, family and friends and wintering in Sun City, AZ. Robert will be remembered missed by beloved Eleanor Battermann Ganson (Wife). Robert was the loving father of 3 daughters and 3 step daughters. Daughters Cindy (Larry) Plank; Jayne Stokes; Robin (Grant) Snyder; Jean (David) Hubacek of Grafton; Jan Klotz of Grafton. Grandchildren Jeremy (Lisa) Plank; Jason Plank; Jessica (Shawn) Horton; Sophia (John) Dike; Julie (Brent) Garber; Nathan Snyder; Jeffery (Laura) Bernarde; Jodi (Jason) Collins; Daniel (Terra) Hubacek; Stephen (Christine) Klotz; Stephaine (Cody) Schneider. Great grandchildren Olivia and Dylan Plank; Ulysses and Jonas Stokes; Caroline and Autumn Dikes; David and Sarah Garber; Gabrielle and Olivia Bernarde; Jacob and Jessica Collins; Tyler, Aubrey, Ryan Klotz. Proceeded in death by parents, wife Mary Eleanor Ganson, and daughter Judie Battermann Bernarde. Roberts’s family is deeply grateful for the wonderful care given by the staff of Hospice Advantage, Home Instead, Aurora Hospital and New Castle Place. Visitation will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church 701 Washington St., Grafton on Thursday August 27, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a worship service celebrating Gods grace to Robert at 12:00 PM. His body will be laid to rest at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton, WI. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran School, Grafton, WI or Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, Jackson, WI in lieu of flowers.
