Nora E. Barthel

Nora E. Barthel (nee Gierach) of Mequon passed away peacefully on Thursday September 6, 2012 at Cedar Lake Health Care in West Bend at the age of 93 years. Nora was born in Freistadt, WI on April 12, 1919 to the late Emil & Hulda (nee Riemer) Gierach, and married the late Armin H. Barthel on June 21, 1941 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Freistadt. Nora was a lifelong, active member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Freistadt. Nora and her husband Armin established Barthel Fruit Farm in Mequon. She is survived by her children; Betty (Ed) Eich of The Villages, FL, Eleanor (Robert) O’Toole of Show Low, AZ, Shirley (Richard) Simmons of West Bend, Susan (Dan Allen) Barthel of Portland, OR, Joyce (Mark Koenig) Powell of Minnetonka, MN & Robert (Nino Ridgway) Barthel of Mequon. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Armin and son Richard. Funeral services are Monday September 10, 12 Noon at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church 10729 W. Freistadt Rd. Mequon. Interment church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00- 11:45 AM. Memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church appreciated.
