Margaret Mary Cassel

Marjorie Cassel passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Silverado Oak Village in Menomonee Falls. She was born Margaret Mary Freeman on April 13, 1921 to Robert and Anna Freeman in Phillips, Wisconsin. She moved to the Milwaukee area after high school where she worked for the IRS and later met and married John F. Cassel on September 13, 1947. In 1960 they built their home and moved to Cedarburg. Marjorie loved gardening, was an excellent and accomplished cook and kept a beautiful home. She also worked for Cassel Box Company as their bookkeeper and accountant. Marjorie was one of the original organizers of the American Saddle Horse Breeders Futurity of Wisconsin. She was recognized for her exemplary work as Treasurer and continued to work with the ASHBF for many years. Marjorie was a devout Catholic and attended daily Mass at St. Francis Borgia which was a constant in her life. She loved praying the rosary and traveled to Mejogoria in Bosnia twice. Her faith and love of God was integral to her life and a testament to the power of prayer. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 68 years, John F. Cassel, sons Marc (Leah) Cassel, John G. (Cindy) Cassel, and Craig (Katy) Cassel and daughters Christie (Jim) Burke, Karen Cassel and Melinda (Jim) Francois. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 – 11:00 AM at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church. Interment St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Borgia North on Tuesday, December 22 from 9:30 AM- 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be offered to St. Francis Borgia School.
