Larry was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on November 14, 1922 to the late Clara and Edward Freitag. He married the love of his life, Lucille Freitag (nee Linnell), on April 14, 1944. Larry and Lucy reached an amazing milestone of being married for 68 years. Larry lived a full life. He was the proud father of 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He devoted his life to the way of Christ. Larry proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. Larry worked as an engineer for Allen Bradley for 42 years, retired, and then worked for Kohler for 5+ years. He has several United States patents, and many of his inventions are used daily around the world. In his free time he also designed many things for his family and the community, including his home in Neshkoro, the addition to his church, the addition to the family lake cottage, and the additions to the home and business of his daughter, Patty, and son-in-law, Joe. He was active as a Gideon and volunteered with Hospice. Larry played tennis and ping-pong well into his 80s, even winning championships. He was talented in woodworking. His garden was a huge masterpiece that he shared lovingly with family and friends. Larry played an amazing game of cribbage. He was an animal lover and especially loved his dogs. Always wanting to stay current with what was happening in the world, Larry followed the news closely. He loved ice cream, and enjoyed eating it practically every day. Those who know Larry would describe him as kind, thoughtful, bright and sensitive. His smile lit up a room. Larry loved his family with his whole heart. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Freitag; two daughters, Patricia O’Connell and Nancy Freitag; and one great-grandson, Anthony Alan Sweet. Larry is further preceded in death by his parents, Clara Freitag (nee Duehring) and Edward Freitag; siblings Lorraine Firstenberger and Lester Freitag; and many other relatives.
