Evelyn Elizabeth Dommer of the Town of Saukville, passed away on August 29, at the age of 94 after a short stay at the Harbor Cove nursing facility in Port Washington. She was born July 5, 1921 on a small farm in Belgium, WI, the daughter of William and Amelia (nee Mahn) Hartman. At age six the family moved to a farm near Newburg. After graduation from West Bend High School she worked in the office of Amity Leather Products. She subsequently moved to Port Washington and worked in the office of the J.E.Gilson Company for several years before marrying Oscar Dommer on May 11, 1946. They ran the family farm in the Town of Saukville until their retirement. During that time, Evelyn was also employed at the A.O. Behrens Insurance Agency in Grafton. Her husband preceded her in death on October 2, 2010. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards especially Sheepshead and until recently still played at senior centers in the area twice a week. She and her husband played with the same card club for 50 years. She also loved to garden, bake and do all sorts of handcrafts. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton and active in the Women’s Guild at the church. She was also a 4-H leader for the Cloverleaf 4-H Club while her children were growing up. She is survived by her three children; Joan (Tom) Weinrich of Port Washington, Jan Dommer and Ken (Mary Lou) Dommer of Saukville. Also grandchildren; Jeff (Maureen) Zirbes of Cedarburg, Michael Zirbes of Middleton, Jennifer (Nick) Wittenburg of Random Lake, Dan (Jacki) Dommer of Grafton and Jamie (TJ) Tannhaeuser of Saukville. She is further survived by nine great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 2, 4 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church 701 Washington St. Grafton. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wed. from 2:30 – 3:45 PM. Memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Ladies Guild or the Ozaukee Co. 4-H Foundation appreciated.
