Edward A. Lueders Jr.

LOVING HUSBAND, DEVOTED CHRISTIAN FATHER, DEAR BROTHER, DEDICATED GRANDFATHER, HUMBLE FRIEND, TILLER OF THE FIELD, CAREGIVER OF GOD’S CREATION, ACCOMPLISHED MUSICIAN Edward A. Lueders was born on Western Road on June 18, 1929, in the old kitchen farmhouse in the town of Cedarburg, to Harriet Martha (nee Jahn) and Edward A. Lueders Sr.. Eddie was brought to Christ in baptism by Pastor Koch on August 4, 1929 at Advent Lutheran Church with his uncles Arthur Lueders and Adolph Jahn as Godparents. He reaffirmed his Christian vows on Palm Sunday, April 18, 1943 with Pastor Carl Eckhoff at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Raised on the old farmstead purchased in 1854, he learned the values of a hard work ethic and his calling, early in life. With his siblings, Fred “Fritz”, Janet, and Sharon, he learned traditional roles – working in the fields and milking cows. His siblings- especially Fritz- were his best friends in his youth. He attended the old one room school house about a half mile east on Western Road. Part of farm life was having fun in 4-H, and Eddie and his siblings were members of the Elm Tree 4-H, showing their garden produce and livestock in the Ozaukee County Fair. Following grade school, he attended Cedarburg High School where he picked up the baritone and became an accomplished musician. He played a baritone duet at his high school graduation in May, 1947. He also played in the Cedarburg Civic Band for over 40 years and the Alte Kamaraden Band of Friestadt for 17 years. After high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Graduating from the school of agriculture in 1952, he returned home to help on the farm. Diversifying the farm, the Lueders family had an apple orchard with a few pear, cherry, and plum trees, Holstein cows, pigs, chickens, and raised crops, including peas and beets for the canning factory, along with corn, oats, wheat, and hay for silage for his cattle. At his peak, along with his family, he milked 121 cows in a stanchion barn, and tilled 450 acres, one of the largest farms in the town of Cedarburg, and Ozaukee County. The tradition of farming continues in the Lueders family with his son and grandsons running the old homestead. After retiring from milking, he helped his daughter raise sweet corn and pumpkins, and continued to work hard teaching his children and grandchildren the values of Christian life. With his formal education finished, he concentrated on farm life with some good old fun too. He met the love of his life at the age of 24, in Hartford, at the old dance hall. The one and only time he was there, he met Delores Kannenberg in January, 1954. He married her on March 20, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Newburg. They were blessed with five children in six years—Elaine, Carol, Dale, Grace, and Lisa. Shortly after marriage, he and his wife joined First Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Cedarburg. They valued their Christian faith and education, so they sent all their children to First Immanuel’s parochial school. As a humble friend, he helped neighbors, bowled for State Farm Insurance, Hadler’s, and Vic's Barbershop. Along with playing music, he met many good and lasting friends. After retirement, he played cards with his old buddies. He peacefully went to heaven to live with his Heavenly Father on November 8, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Harriet Lueders, brother, Kenneth Lueders, parents-in-law, Albert and Eleanor Kannenberg, and brother-in-law, Mike Boesch. He is survived by his wife, Delores of 56 years of marriage, children: Elaine (Ken) Rosengren, Carol (Dave) Bolwerk, Dale Lueders, Grace (Jeff) Uselding, and Lisa (John) Brooks; grandchildren: Christopher and Chad Scheer, Sarah and Elizabeth Colden, Kailey Foster, Alex Edward Thiede Lueders, Kyle Rosengren, Andrew, Aaron, and Jacob Bolwerk, and Remington Brooks; great-grandchildren, Trista Scheer and Adelynn Krueger, siblings: Rev. Fred (Pauline) Lueders, Janet (Gordon) Waters, and Sharon (Ed) Eskola, brother-in-law, Roy (Arlene) Kannenberg, and sisters-in-law, Jane Boesch, and Marilyn (Hugo) Gonzalez. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service Sunday, November 13, 2011 5PM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Cedarburg. Interment will take place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. The family will receive friends, on Sunday, at the church, from 3-5PM.
