Donald G. Franzen

Of Grafton, passed away peacefully at Lawlis Family Hospice, in Mequon, WI on January 29, 2018, surrounded by his family, at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of Anita (nee Kringel); loving father to Shirley (Jeff) Greisch, Sharon Franzen, Steven Franzen, Scott (Jean) Franzen, Stuart (Wendy) Franzen, Susan Franzen; dear brother to Judy (Dan) Survis, Darlene (Rodney) Aupperle, Pat (Bob) Friedemann, Douglas (Dawn) Franzen, Roxanne (Joe) Sterr, Edward (Pat) Franzen and brother-in-law to Pauline Franzen, Franklin (Nancy) Kringel and Arno Jobs; dear grandpa to Heather, Bryan, Jason, Monique, Shawn, Bradly, Rachael, Miranda, Nicholas, Joshua and 9 great grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Leona (nee Bruss) Franzen; sister, Bernadine; sister, Marcella; brother, Henry; sister Audrey; and grandchildren, Holly, Michael, Maria, Jamie, Allen. Donald was born to Edward and Leona, on March 31, 1931 in Cedarburg, WI. Donald would go on to meet Anita at the county fair, and were then united in marriage in 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI, and would later be blessed with 6 children. Donald would also be drafted into the Korean War, the following year, in 1953, where he served in the Army branch. Donald enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and gardening. Donald was a longtime member of the Grafton Legion, Rose Harms Post #355 and the VFW. Donald and his family also went on many trips up north, camping and seeing the countryside out west. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton, WI. Public visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church or family are greatly appreciated.
