I had known Gordy since Ozaukee County was in charge of the special education programs. I have lost contact with him since my retirement, but I will forever remember the smile he could put on my face at the end of a hard day at work. His stories, his insights and thoughtfulness are something that I will always remember. Gordy was a fine human being.

I am so sorry for your loss. I got to know Gordy over the last few years as a parent of Kennedy Elementary School. I always enjoyed talking with Gordy, whenever we saw each other at after school scout meetings.
May you find peace at this time.
Sincerely,
Shawna Parsons

This is my first year at Grafton High School. I talked to Gordy quite frquently. He loved to talk. I am so sorry for you loss. Please accept my condolences. I have written something for such an unfortunate ocassion. May it help you through your grief.
The journey
Sometimes in life our prayers we do send
To hope that this moment in time never ends
Things so beautiful that feel just right
As we hold them with love far into the night
As we fall asleep with love in our heart
Each morning awakening with a passionate start
Hoping that nothing will ever change
But understanding that life must sometimes rearrange
Life does not stop as time must pass on
And those that we loved all of a sudden are gone
Leaving us empty and feeling so lost
Willing to give all that we have, doesn’t matter the cost
To go back to what we had; what we cherished so dear
Realizing the truth is so crystal clear
That we must move on and love deeply each day
We never know when things might be taken away
Please do not forget me as I soon may pass
If I have given you joy then just look at your glass
The measure that I filled was the amount of your need
My destiny, my purpose, I have now succeeded
You see I am not here to be all that I am
I was put here to help you with your master plan
I came into your life because you needed me here
And now I must move on because things now so clear
Your time to learn your life lesson is today
As it is my time and I have been called away
To remember me and all and of those things that I gave
Hold those in your heart and please never give them away
Remember the joy that I put inside of your soul
Because now that I am gone you can never let go
For if you do even for just a little while
Then my existence was nothing and my life futile

Dear Sue Ellen and Family, We just wanted to say how sorry we were to hear of Gordys passing. What a wonderful man; always a smile on his face and a story to share. We sure appreciated all the countless things he did for our mom at school and at home. Thoughts and prayers to all of you during this very difficult time.

In elementary school, Gordon and I being the only two kids whose last names started with 'N', we were assured of being seated together for the duration. Both being tall for our age assured us of being at the back of those rooms. Now he's seated with angels. My sympathies.

Gordie Nelsen was not only my neighbor but also a one of my best friends. He was always a very hard working individual who was not only unselfish but had made many personal sacrifices throughout his life to raise his grandchildren and I have always respected him for that. He was always professional with a wonderful infusion of humor, personality and trust. I will miss his insight, patience and most of all - his friendship. He made a positive difference in my life and lives of others and I feel proud to have been a part of it. There is no doubt in my mind that his spirit will continue to teach, inspire, support and comfort people.
With the Greatest Sincerity and Sympathy.
